Week 17 is here, and with rumors swirling, movement is evident amongst players. To know which ones will contribute one must read this week’s Start/Sit.

Starting Pitcher in Focus: Brad Bergesen
In his last six starts, he is 2-3, with a 2.79 ERA. His next start is scheduled at home against the Kansas City Royals, where he is 6-1, with a 2.82 ERA. Fantasy owners should highly consider him for week 17.

Pitchers we love for week 17: A.J. Burnett, Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter, Cole Hamels, Carlos Zambrano, Roy Oswalt, Chad Billingsley, Wandy Rodriguez, Ubaldo Jimenez, Jered Weaver, Jair Jurrjens, James Shields, Ricky Nolasco, Mark Buehrle, and Jarrod Washburn.
Starter to Avoid for week 17: Johnny Cueto
In his last six starts, he is 2-3, with an ERA of 7.58. Since the All-Star break, opponents are hitting .373 against Cueto, and Fantasy owners should be cautious and not start him for week 17.

Other Starters to Avoid for week 17: John Danks, Bronson Arroyo, Mike Pelfrey, Paul Maholm, Jon Garland, Carl Pavano, Oliver Perez, Jeff Suppan.
Position Players: Infielders:
In his last 18 games, 1B  Ryan Garko is hitting .354, with three home runs, and seven RBI. His OPS in July is .920, making him a viable option for week 17.

In his last 18 games, 2B Luis Castillo is hitting .383, with six RBI, and 12 runs scored. He has reemerged as a viable option, and is a recommended NL-Only start for week 17.

SS Orlando Cabrera has had an incredible month. In 20 games he is hitting .379, with two home runs and 16 RBI. His OPS is .940 and he has scored eight runs, making him a viable AL-Only option for week 17.

In 19 games 3B Edwin Encarnacion has three home runs with nine RBI and is hitting .288. He is a viable option for NL-Only leagues for week 17.

Infielder to Avoid: Dan Uggla
In 19 games in July, he is hitting .235, with one home run, and six RBI. His OPS is .644, and has only scored six runs. He has been struggling all year and should be on the bench for week 17.

Outfielders:
OF Nyjer Morgan is becoming a valuable player in mixed leagues. In 19 games in July, he is hitting .372, with three RBI, and 11 stolen bases. He has scored 12 runs, and has an OPS of .854.

Over his last 20 games OF David DeJesus is hitting .338, with one home run, and 12 RBI. He has reemerged as a No. 5 Fantasy Outfielder, and is a recommended start.

Over his last 12 games OF Jeff Francoeur is on fire. Over that span, he has two home runs, with 14 RBI, and is hitting an even .300. He is now a viable option for NL-Only leagues for week 17.

Outfielder to Avoid in Week 17:  Vernon Wells
Over his last 16 games, despite hitting .308, he only has three home runs, and three RBI. He has been a huge disappointed and should be on the bench for week 17.

Catchers: Ryan Hanigan
Over his last 12 games, he is hitting .333. In his last two years in the minors, he has an OPS of .846 and .810. He is going to get extended playing time with Ramon Hernandez out, and is a great NL-only start for week 17.

Catcher to Avoid: Carlos Ruiz
Relief Pitchers: George Sherrill
He has converted 20 of 23 save opportunities and the Baltimore Orioles play seven games at home, where Sherrill has been dominate. He has an ERA of 2.66 and is holding opponents to a .195 batting average. Don’t be surprised to see him in another uniform as the new closer.
