Written by Sean
Way back on November 10, 2008, the now infamous “Slowwwww” FantasyPros911.com Expert mock draft began.  As a loyal podcast listener at the time, I was one of the two listeners (Yogi FBM24 was the other) who were given the opportunity to participate with the likes of some great experts like Jeff Erickson, Jason Collette, Corey Schwartz, Eric Stashin, Mike Siano, Paul Greco, Adam Ronis, Lenny Melnick, Tony Cincotta, and Rhett Oldham.

It was a great experience as the speed of the draft really allowed us all to comment and analyze each other's picks as the draft went on. The draft finally was completed around 3pm on January 5, 2009.

For anyone that wants to see the final results here are some links:

Picks by  Draft order

Picks by Team Rosters

As I was making the last overall pick (Ryan Spilborghs) I noticed there were still some players left to try to field another quality team.   And since I just didn’t want to see that draft end, without further adieu here is my version of Team Undrafted .

C Jason Varitek
C J. R. Towles
1B Adam LaRoche
2B Akinori Iwamura
SS Edgar Renteria
3B Mike Lowell
CI Ryan Garko
MI Jed Lowrie
OF Coco Crisp
OF Josh Willingham
OF Fred Lewis
OF Michael Bourn
OF Skip Schumaker
U Travis Snider
P Jeff Francis
P Brad Penny
P Andy Petitte
P Chris Carpenter
P James McDonald
P John Lannan
P Troy Percival
P Brad Ziegler
P Chad Qualls

So  do you agree that there were some pretty nice picks left over? Please share any comments you have about the draft results or Team Undrafted below.

I can't imagine how Coco Crisp, with everyday playing time, would go undrafted. Also, it's pretty interesting that no one would take a chance on Renteria (only one poor season in his last 5-6) especially at such a weak position. And Lenny, not gonna stash Garko on the bench for a rainy day or for when Vic &/or Hafner visit the IR?

Weeks ago i would have agreed with MIIKE when Jays were after Bradley When all was said and done, Jays are now trying to rebuild and contend (two sell tix)They know they wont compete and have declard to play young players like Snider,Lind ,Purcey and Litsch If Snider has DECENT spring..he plays.
Dont be shocked if Wells and/or Halladay
get traded after season starts and team drops off.

I disagree Mike about Fred Lewis...I think the Giants are going to sign another OF and as a result Lewis will be in a platoon with Randy Winn. Of course if SF doesn't then he could be a nice addition.

I don't think Snider is nearly ready for MLB pitching. He strikes out wayyyy too much and only has 64 ABs in Triple-A. His minor league stats have also been inflated by ridiculously high BABIPs. His BABIP in Triple-A was .435!! And in Single-A in 2007 it was .407.

Looks safe to safe Jays' OF Travis Snider is a sleeper.

If not for the steal category what job would Michael Bourne have right now?

He actually should have paid the Astros $600,000 last year based on his win value.

I'd have to think Coco Crisp and Fred Lewis are top 60 OFers.
