Although the strikeouts are lacking for the staff, the ERA of this decade is likely much lower than those of the past. Speed is lacking here, but average and power is plentiful.

Re: The Fabulous 50\'s written by Rich Murphy, Sr., March 15, 2009
Hi Kev',
I met The Godfather, along with Rich Jr. at the annual Baseball HQ First Pitch Forum in New Jersey yesterday and we treated him to a meal afterwards - he is a "piece of work" to say the least and a really nice guy. We're contemporaries when it comes to memories of the game, so I had to laugh at your comment. I specifically recall games (and the World Series especially) from the '58 season, so when I look at the great names you listed, I did see most, if not all of them play - unfortunately a few were at the tail-end of their HOF careers, like Williams, Musial, Snider and Spahn (the greatest LH pitcher of all-time, IMHO.) I'm sure some other great individual seasons from that decade could be considered, but you've put up a pretty formidable group there. Good job! Regards, Rich Lou Piniella League Write comment

I use a few different ways to try to calculate these players, and there would probably be some replacements for consistency throughout the decade, however, since I've chosen just to do one year for each guy it's a little different.
