"Turn out the lights the party’s over..."
Schilling made an easy $8 million last season after signing a one-year deal with Boston before sitting out with a shoulder injury for the entire season. He'll finish his career with an impressive 216-146 record, 3.46 ERA, and 3,116 strikeouts, the 14th most in baseball history. Now, how I really feel about the guy: Curt Schilling is an arrogant, pompous egomaniac, and what I'll miss the most is the constant opportunity to make fun of him. I wish that, along with retirement, came a political gag order, but we'll have no such luck. He'll likely go on blogging about the big leagues, giving his two cents where no one was needy, as usual. Or maybe he'll yet become an ESPN analyst, which is probably what he was actually born to do in the first place. If he even touches the MLBNetwork, I'll flip out for sure. I really like that channel so far, and he doesn't need to ruin everything. Outside of Red Sox Nation, Schilling's passion for our pastime was easily overshadowed by his pretentiousness. That's a damn shame. He was arguably one of the greatest post season pitchers of all time -- compiling an 11-2 record and 2.23 ERA over 19 fall starts. He brought a hard-throwing, hard-working demeanor to the hill every time he was called upon, playoffs or no. So yeah, he was pretty awesome at throwing baseballs. With that being said, goodbye Mr. Schilling. I won't miss your fat ass one bit, but I'll think of you everytime I watch Eastbound and Down. Trackback(0)

You blast him for being a blowhard and giving his 2 cents where none is needed? And yet here you are doing the same. Hypocrite.

Minnesota Twins, which really has nothing to do with my disdain for Curt Schilling. I feel equal animosity toward Roger Clemens, who (possible steroid use aside) is also a douchebag, and once a Yankee.

Sooze,
Through your obvious disdain for the guy, at least you're able to credit him for his achievements on the field. I still think you have bloodlines with Grapes. Write comment
