My words aren’t nearly as important as some of the following news:
-Tim Hudson believes that he will be able to return to the Atlanta Braves rotation in August, after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He is already throwing bullpen sessions containing solely fastballs, and in the next few weeks will improve his pitch count and begin to throw breaking balls. -Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks underwent successful wrist surgery yesterday, which will keep him out of action. In his place, the Brewers have called up Hernan Iribarren whom will receive an occasional start at second base. -Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle benched shortstop Troy Tulowitzki after suffering a recent slump mainly due to swinging at way too many first pitches. “Tulo” will hopefully recover his 2007 form when he took home the Rookie of the Year award. -Edinson Volquez will likely miss his next scheduled start due to a back injury. He will hopefully only miss one start, but if the condition continues, then he may head to the Disabled List. -Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis has been activated from the DL after suffering a strained left side muscle that has kept him out of action since May 5. -The following players left early from last night’s games: Bobby Abreu (toe), Jose Reyes (right calf), Omar Infante (broken hand). -Anthony Swarzak has been called up to start for the Minnesota Twins this weekend against the Brewers after reliever Craig Breslow was claimed off waivers. Swarzak will take Glen Perkins' spot in the rotation, as Perkins was recently sent to the DL with left elbow inflammation. -Washington Nationals pitcher Daniel Cabrera has been sent to the bullpen; Craig Stammen will take his place in the rotation and make his big league debut on Thursday. -The Chicago White Sox are starting to near full health due to the return of Brian Anderson, who will be joined in the center field battle by Dewayne Wise when he returns from the DL in the next week or two. The verdict is still out on Scott Podsednik’s fate. -St. Louis Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter made a successful return to big league action last night throwing five scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs. There are the top ten stories of the past 48 hours to help you dominate your fantasy league. Leave a comment below with your thoughts on Hudson, Youkilis, Reyes, Abreu, and others. Trackback(0)
