PERFECT Buy Low Players PDF Print E-mail

Sure, it is finals week, but I’m still here to crank out some GREAT buy low candidates for your fantasy team!  Here we go:

Troy Tulowitzki
, Colorado Rockies: “Tulo” is off to a poor start, hitting just .200 in the month of April. However, we have to expect that bigger things are yet to come.  Unless he goes Angel Berroa on us, he’s going to rebound this year and now is the perfect time to buy low.  If he starts hitting, that means he’ll drive in more runs, and steal more bases, it’s simple!  Now, if he could just start hitting the gaps….

Jose Valverde
, Houston Astros: Valverde is headed to the DL right now and will be there until at least the end of May, but if your team is lacking saves and sports a deep bench (or a DL spot) then don’t hesitate to pick him up.  He’s been shaky in 2009 (which could be due to health), but he’s likely going to get his job back when he’s healthy.  There aren’t really any qualified candidates in the Houston bullpen at this point in time to take that spot.

Kelly Johnson
, Atlanta Braves: “KJ” hasn’t done much of anything in 2009, yet he is on pace to break his career high of 16 home runs.  He was benched in favor of Omar Infante, which could have been due to a slight injury, or Bobby Cox trying to inspire Johnson.  Either way, his .218 batting average is destined to increase as the season goes on, so why not try to acquire him?

Fred Lewis, San Francisco Giants: You’re probably wondering how in the world Lewis is on this list, considering he’s hitting .293.  The simple answer is that he isn’t running…yet.  For some reason, Bruce Bochy has only had Lewis attempt to steal two bases, one of which he was caught stealing.  All he needs is to face Chris Young of the San Diego Padres and he has potential to put up Dexter Fowler-like speed numbers.  Look to see if someone is willing to deal his 1 RBI and 1 SB, but if you can’t find him, maybe it’s because he’s on the waiver wire!

Jose Guillen, Kansas City Royals: Guillen is fresh off injury but he’s still only owned in 10% of ESPN.com leagues.  In just 49 at-bats he has managed to hit three home runs and drive in 11 runners, all the while hitting a stellar .306 batting average.  If he’s a free agent, don’t hesitate to pick him up, because he should already be owned.  The Kansas City offense is starting to pick up some steam, and once Alex Gordon is back in the next month or two, things will be even better.

These are currently my top five buy low candidates, but I’m sure that I’ve missed a few.  Who do you think they are?  Leave a comment below and let me know what trades that you’ve offered to acquire these guys.
