The Premium Tease
Written by Patrick DiCaprio

We started FantasyPros911.com with little expectation of the immediate success we would have. The site was the brainchild of Paul Greco, who wanted to offer something no one else in the industry offered, the best customer service and the development of a community. From this seed was sown the almost immediate and overwhelming response we have had.

This feeling of community is what drives the site. Nowhere is this better exemplified by The Godfather of Fantasy Baseball, Lenny Melnick. Lenny was voted the Favorite Fantasy Sports Expert at Advanced Fantasy Baseball, after less than one year into the site’s existence. This is no surprise, as Lenny is easily the most accessible and friendly guy in the industry, and has scores of faithful followers.

Lenny has the best daily podcast in Fantasy Baseball, which is provided to our Premium Subscribers. Considering that only our Premium Subscribers get his podcast and he still won that vote against guys whose stuff is available for free, we think that it says a lot about Lenny’s expertise. Like Yogi Berra, Lenny may be prone to a funny malaprop here and there, but his expertise is some of the best around.

Even better, singer/songwriter Dave Potts, a Premium Subscriber, wrote a song for the site, which is now our theme song (how many sites have their own there song?) Why did he do this? It was not at anyone’s request nor was it for pay; it was simply because he wanted to. These two tidbits, more than anything else, count among our proudest moments.

Aside from the community, we had some other great highlights in 2009. By far the biggest and best accomplishment for the site was our clean sweep in the Forecaster’s Challenge. FantasyPros911.com’s projections expert Mike Podhorzer pulled off a 42-0 record, beating The Hardball Times, Baseball Prospectus, KFFL, Razzball, CHONE, CBS Sports, ZiPS and every other fantasy site of repute in the industry in a head-to-head matchup of rankings systems, where each was rated on 275 players. So, you can be sure you are getting the best and most accurate projections. That is not mere puffery as it is with most sites; we have a title to prove it.

Why? Mike’s methodology is not just one of computer-generated projections, but one that combines his expertise in fantasy baseball with a computer model to produce the finest projections in the industry. While other may claim that they are the “best” they did not beat ours in a head-to-head matchup.

Secondly, we had great success in our inaugural Experts’ League. We finished in first place in that league as well, beating, among others, The Hardball Times, RotoWire, Creative Sports (now Mastersball), Fox Sports, FantasyBaseball.com and three-time Tout Wars Champ Mike Lombardo.

Unlike most fantasy websites and blogs, we offer a slate of true fantasy experts and professionals. Unlike most fantasy baseball websites, we get interviews with players, access to clubhouses and have contacts throughout the baseball industry. We have professional writers on our staff, not just people that dabble in writing for their own blog. And we are your go-to source for fantasy advice in an emergency, so when you have a Fantasy Baseball emergency, you can subscribe to our Premium Site and we will be your 911 call.

What else do we offer you? Not only do you get the best projections and great advice from Lenny Melnick, you get a roster of the best Fantasy Baseball podcasts of any site. You can check out BlogTalkRadio.com by clicking on the “popular” link for sports when the baseball season gets underway. You will see four or our shows ranked in the top ten overall shows, which is three more than every other site out there. Our number one show, and the number two sports show overall on BlogTalkRadio, is The Fantasy Baseball Roundtable. On that show we predicted, in our (infamous?) Are You Crazy segment, that:

-Denard Span would outperform Jose Reyes.
-Justin Upton would out perform Ryan Ludwick.

-Russell Martin would not be a top ten catcher in mixed leagues.

-Joey Votto would be a top NL first baseman.

-Fernando Rodney would hold the closer’s job and get over 30 saves.

If you can find one site that made two of these correct predictions let us know and we will offer our kudos.

You get the only 1-800 hotline in the industry. At any time should you need advice you can get one of our baseball experts on the line for advice, even right in the middle of your draft! We helped many owners directly, some of whom we spoke to every week to give advice, and every one of them will tell you that they either won their league or finished higher once they started calling us. We publish testimonials on our site, and here are some of the comments:

Rich Murphy says : Just a quick note from a twenty-two season roto veteran to tell you that I'm blown away by the content that yourself, Lenny and your eminently qualified staff of experts generate on a DAILY basis!  I've been a subscriber to Ron Shandler's BASEBALL HQ since 1998, and have yet to find an industry equal that's even close.  My well-honed, experienced gut feeling tells me that this might change in the not too distant future, based on what you are putting out there for us to digest in a highly-interactive and interpersonal way (very important.)  If this is any indication of the quality information you gents are intent on generating, methinks the $ 29.99 Premium fee will be short-lived - a GOOD thing for you, and a financial "hit" your customer base will absorb gladly!

Olin Forman, aka. Big O: I never join pay-sites. Quite frankly, everyone has opinions, and it's just so difficult to decide whose opinion to value. (Besides, I'm pretty cheap with my money.) FP911 has changed me. With over a dozen fantasy baseball experts on-site, every topic is covered...from every angle. And, believe me, these guys aren't all "yes men" either. They are constantly scrutinizing and critiquing each other's work.  AND, they invite you to do the same!

Bob Lan says : Hello all, I want to thank Paul Greco greatly. This weekend I had problems logging into the Fantasy Guide because of Internet Explorer.  On Monday morning Paul himself called me and I was surprised it was Paul.  Paul Stayed with me for 30 minutes getting me setup.  It works now, thank you Paul.  But, I was going to give up and Paul stayed with me and found the solution. That shows me that Paul and the guys work hard and want this site to make it BIG.  You guys should be proud of yourselves.  This is the best site I’ve seen.  Keep up the good work guys. Thank you Paul!Q

Alan in Taiwan says: Thank you guys.... you guys do a great job on blogs and podcast.  It really helps me a lot here in Taiwan!

Craig Iwano says : Thanks guys and glad to see the new site up and running. I also hope to participate in your daily podcasts through the chat room. With your advice, I was able to win my big money league last year in only my 2nd year playing in it.

Eric Kraemer says : As a guy in the Customer Service business….. You guys are unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Three replies in short order. On an isolated pool format no less. Thanks from a Canadian out shoveling his driveway!

Perhaps most importantly, we have a community that includes all of our writers and a legion of fans and fantasy baseball enthusiasts. We are all accessible, answer phone calls, and have events where we can get together, meet people and just have fun watching baseball. If you have ever been treated badly by other sites, could not get a question answered in a chat or are just dissatisfied with inaccessibility of the people there, then FantasyPros911.com is for you. Speaking from experience, no other site offers the ability to just call up to chat about baseball on their dime. We do, and of all of the features that we offer, this is easily the most enjoyable and the most fun, at least for us.

So, are you tired of finishing in the middle of the pack in your league? Are you sick of hoping to get your fantasy baseball questions answered in a chat with 1,000 other people? Are you looking for top-notch fantasy baseball advice, projections that beat every other competitor head-to-head and the unquestioned best customer service in the industry? We have the answer for you right here at FantasyPros911.com. Take a look at our free draft guide and if you like what you see, then consider signing up for our Premium Site and drop me a line with your comments.

As Lenny Melnick is fond of saying, quoting the song Centerfield from Bull Durham, “put us in coach, we are ready to play.” Sure, he cannot sing like John Fogerty, but Lenny gives better fantasy advice. So, let us be your vehicle to fantasy baseball domination.

Good luck in 2010!
