Debate
Written by Paul Greco
Alright, the first few are down and now we have THE GREAT DEBATER #9...Welcome Andrew Deehr The idea of becoming a fantasy sports writer is something I've thought about in the past. With the experiences I've had from high school and beyond I'd make a great candidate for this type of position. I should be selected for the great fantasy debate for several reasons.

First, I've been playing fantasy sports since I was a freshman in high school. Going into this fantasy baseball season it will make my 15th year playing fantasy sports. I play baseball, football, and have done basketball and hockey in the past. I've also tried my hand at golf as well. But my main focus has been baseball followed by football.

Secondly in high school I was on the school newspaper my junior and senior year. Junior year I was a sports beat writer and my senior year I was the editor of the sports section. I learned how to edit and write for print. I also won an award at the Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association for editorial column I wrote throughout my senior year.

Finally for three of my high school years I was on the radio station doing a local sports talk show called Sports Beat. It was a call in show for local listeners to voice their opinions on local and national sports issues. I was the co-host my junior year and was the main host my senior year. I was also accepted into Brown in Minneapolis for their sports play by play broadcasting courses.

These may have been things that happened many years ago in my past, but they are experiences that I've cherished and have given me knowledge that I've carried with me. Please feel free to contact me regarding this great opportunity.

Andrew makes a strong case, what do you think?

Fantasy Football Nerd

I have had the pleasure (or displeasure) of competing against Andrew for the past several years now and can verify that he's very, very knowledgeable and articulate.

I am the creator and owner of FantasyFootballNerd.com, a unique website devoted to applying the wisdom of the crowd to fantasy football projections. It's safe to say that I have a pretty solid understanding of the game, and Andrew has always been able to beat me to the punch with the latest news and insight. Debating him has been enjoyable but ultimately a fruitless endeavor over the past several years.

Even in this economy, I'd be willing to put money on Andrew in any contest he enters.

This guys past is fairly similar to mine so I find it exciting. I didn't win any Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association awards, however, as Editorial Board President of my schools newspaper I won All-KEMPA (Kettle Moraine Press Association or something like that). Went to Illinois High School Association State Finals in Sports Writing but didn't win because the story was about field hockey, which is one sport that I know nothing about (very unlike curling!).
