TOP NEWS : The Angels activated Ervin Santana from the 15-day DL. Santana will start tonight against the Red Sox.

AL : Frankie Francisco, nursing biceps tendinitis, is hoping to return to action Friday night...If you were in a 1-35 slump you'd probably need a few days off too.  That is what the Tigers are going to do with Gerald Laird over the next few days...While Carl Crawford was trying to make a FANTASTICAL catch in the fourth inning, he ended up bruising his right shoulder and had to leave the game. Crawford said after the game that it is not a serious injury and that he hopes to be back in the lineup soon..Adam Jones had to leave Wednesday night’s game because he strained his right hamstring...Dontrelle Willis, back from his anxiety disorder, gave up four runs, walked two with no strikeouts over four and two-thirds innings...Jack Cust drove in four runs, and now has 21 RBI on the season...Matt Palmer, yes, THE Matt Palmer, is now 4-0 after a complete game win over the Red Sox. Palmer struck out eight, walked two and gave up five hits...Jason Bay slugged his tenth home run of the season.  Manny who?...Brandon Morrow blew a save Wednesday night when he gave up a two-run double to Hank Blalock...Jason Bartlett was 3-4 with a homer, two runs scored and a stolen base....Joe Crede hit a two-out walk-off grand slam against the Tigers Wednesday night...B.J. James Loney hit his first homer of the season...FINALLY!!! Geovany Soto hit his first home run of the season...Randy Wolf gave up just one run over six innings for the win...Fred Lewis has missed the past two games with a sore left toe...Matt Capps closed out the game for the Pirates to collect his sixth save of the season...Ross Ohlendorf did it again. Ohlendorf collected the win while holding the Cardinals to one run over six innings...Johnny Cueto gave up three runs over seven innings for the win. Cueto is now 4-0 over his last five starts...Congrats to Geraldo Parra for becoming the 100th player in major league history to homer in his first at-bat Wednesday...Could he be turning his season around? Lance Berkman went 4-4 with two RBI and three runs scored...Ryan Theriot homered twice to give him five on the season.  Yes, you read that right; Theriot now has five homers on the season...

the 24-year old Oriole rookie, won his major league debut against the Tigers on Thursday. Hernandez took 108 pitches to get through five and two thirds, but held the Tigers to only one run.
