TOP NEWS : Joakim Soria lands on the DL and the Royals call up prized pitching prospect Luke Hochevar.

Also…

TOP NEWS : Cameron Maybin sent down to Triple-A.

AL : Kevin Youkilis was once again out of the Red Sox lineup on Sunday.  Youk has now missed six consecutive games with a sore left side…Rookie Rick Porcello gave up one run over six innings to notch his third win of the season…Hank Blalock hit his eighth and ninth homers of the season Sunday…Rookie Brett Cecil threw eight scoreless innings to collect the first win of his career…Alexei Ramirez was hitless once again Sunday.  Manager Ozzie Guillen is growing very impatient with the young shortstop…Josh Beckett still doesn’t look great.  Beckett gave up six hits and three runs over six innings while striking out five and walking three…After Manager Cito Gaston spoke out about how poorly Alex Rios had been playing, Rios responded by hitting a homer and droving in three runs…Nick Blackburn threw seven shutout innings, lowering his ERA to 4.32…Johnny Damon hit his team leading ninth homer Sunday…Despite shoulder discomfort, Mariano Rivera tossed a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save…Another Rangers’ pitcher goes seven innings.  This time it was Vicente Padilla, throwing one hit ball over seven innings for the win. Twenty-nine other teams are watching closely as Rangers President, Nolan Ryan, rids himself of the dreaded pitch count …

NL : “Hey, didn’t you used to be Jimmy Rollins?” Rollins struggles continued on Sunday as he went 0-5, lowering his batting average to .195…Casey Kotchman has been hot.  Sunday, Kotchman had three more RBI and three more hits.  Kotchman is now batting .312 on the season…Miguel Tejada, batting .313, hit his second homer of the season and drove in four runs…I’ve been giving Kenshin Kawakami a lot of lip lately, but Sunday, finally, Kawakami was hitting his spots and his curveball was devastating; just ask Chase Utley…NEWS FLASHChipper Jones is hurt.  Hard to believe I know, but Jones is listed as day-to-day with a sore elbow. I watched the game Sunday, and it was very evident that he was having a hard time swinging from the left side of the plate.  On a three pitch strike out, Jones was wincing, and his top hand was flying off the bat earlier than usual…Adrian Gonzalez hit his 10th homer of the season off Roy Oswalt.  Gonzalez has been pounding the ball, and at this point, is having an MVP type season…Ivan Rodriguez had four hits Sunday, which included a solo homer… Speaking of MVP’s, Albert Pujols hit his league leading 12th homer of the season. Pujols also added a stolen base and three runs scored. Just a typical day in the life of Pujols…Adam Dunn hit two homers on Sunday, and raised his batting average to .311.  I bet Cub fans are wishing the front office would have signed Dunn instead of, well, that other guy…After starting the season slow, Justin Upton is now batting .309. On Sunday, Upton had three hits, scored three times and added a stolen base…Juan Pierre is fitting into the Dodgers’ lineup nicely with Manny suspended.  All Pierre did Sunday was reach base four times, steal a base and score three times…

I'd also like to add a FANTASTICAL Thank You to all the warm wishes this weekend.  My wife and son are now doing great and are at home resting comfortably.

I was getting ready to cut Upton loose. With Alexei Ramirez and Rollins leading the way for my underachieving team; I didnt have much patience for a young guy like Upton to suck it up as well. Glad to see he's getting his AVG up.

"Juan Pierre is fitting into the Dodgers’ lineup nicely" didnt think I'd ever hear that.
